The Bathus kiteshield (Tier 2) is an item that can only be obtained and used while Dungeoneering. It requires level 10 Defence to wear. It may be picked up from the table at the beginning of a dungeon, obtained as a monster drop, or produced using the Smithing skill.
It can be produced by using 3 Bathus bars with a hammer on an anvil, requiring level 16 Smithing and granting 66 Smithing experience.
The slash defence of a bathus kiteshield is 1 lower than a black kiteshield and the crush defence is 1 higher than a steel kiteshield while the ranged defence is between the two kiteshields. However, the stab defence is only 1 higher than an iron kiteshield. Like all other equipment in Daemonheim, it has 0 summoning defence but this is not important as no creature in Daemonheim uses Summoning.
This item is less commonly produced by smithing than other pieces of equipment are, as many melee fighters will prefer to use two-handed weapons such as the Bathus spear and Bathus maul, and these weapons can not be wielded with a shield. Also, players with exactly 3 bathus bars to use for gaining Smithing experience will generally prefer to produce Bathus platelegs instead, as they give more experience per bar than the kiteshield.
