The Bag of grain is used during the bridge section of the Recruitment Drive quest. It cannot be left with the Chicken alone on one side of the bridge, or else the chicken will eat the grain and you will have to restart the challenge.
In the past there was a glitch where players could take this and the other items with them outside of the room, this has been fixed.
