Arctic Pine
Arctic pines are trees that can be found growing on the Fremennik isle of Neitiznot. They can be cut down using the Woodcutting skill, giving arctic pine logs and 140.2 Woodcutting experience, which requires level 54 Woodcutting. Arctic pine logs can be split, yielding an extra 42.5 Woodcutting experience per log. There are several pines north of the south-western-most bridge in Neitiznot, with a woodcutting stump for splitting the logs, and a pile to deposit the split logs.
Arctic pines are one of the fastest methods currently available of training woodcutting. They compare to the woodcutting experience per hour of teaks but are far more relaxing and like teaks a tinderbox in the toolbelt can be used to drop the logs almost without stopping woodcutting. At 99 woodcutting it is possible to get over 120k woodcutting experience per hour with urns, and firemaking comes at about 1/4 of woodcutting experience (When an inferno adze is used with flame gloves and ring of fire). This rate is slightly increased by low alching the logs which means no interruption of woodcutting what so ever, except when the trees are cut down. There is also the ability to split the logs but this is far slower than the above methods mentioned, unless done losslessly. This is possible by positioning the in-game character between the splitting platform and the tree itself and splitting a log as soon as it is cut, then quickly clicking back on the tree. The split logs can be deposited or dropped depending on the player's preference.
Like teak and mahogany trees, arctic pine logs cannot be cut into bows using the Fletching skill, attempting to will result in a message saying "You can't fletch that". Arctic pine logs can be burned at level 42 Firemaking for 125 experience. You also cannot use the leperchaun's magical banking ability from chopping Evil Trees.
During and after The Fremennik Isles quest, arctic pine logs can be crafted on woodcutting stumps, to make Fremennik round shields and split logs. Fremennik round shields, which take two logs to make, also require a bronze nail and rope to complete. Split logs are used to repair bridges on Neitiznot during The Fremennik Isles. 54 Woodcutting is needed to do this.
Arctic Pines are the only tree that has a swaying animation. They move as though in a light breeze, which may reflect Neitiznot's peaceful nature. However since the Bakriminel update on 20th March 2012, the trees have been changed and no longer have the swaying animation. They now also have snow on them.
An arctic pine is required for one of the hard Fremennik Province Tasks - make a barbarian pyre ship from arctic pine (level 52 firemaking and crafting required).
