Money making guide/Herblore
This page contains a list of ways to make money with the Herblore skill.
Effectiveness | Level requirement | Details | Other requirements |
---|---|---|---|
***** | Level 3 - 75 | Buy grimy herbs, clean the herbs and sell the clean herbs at a higher price. See the herb calculator for the current cost/profit ratio. Be aware that prices fluctuate within the ranges of the herb calculator. This method can work extremely well, but only if you have a lot of money to start (since you will have the ability to move through thousands of herbs per hour). Also be aware that price differences between grimy and clean herbs are very rarely more than 100 coins, although sometimes (mainly with Torstol), the difference can be several times higher. With market fluctuations wiping out any profit if you wait too long, or increasing it substantially if the prices happen to go up while you're cleaning them. Other difficulties are due to the volume and number restrictions on the Grand Exchange.; your orders will probably spend a lot of time waiting to be filled. You can possibly make a huge profit of herbs per hour, sometimes exceeding one million coins, depending on method used. Also you can use the clean herbs with a vial of water to make unfinished potions. Many players like to buy these unfinished potions to save time, since making them gives no experience. This may be worth your time to do because usually it provides decent profit. | None |
***** | Level 4 - 85 | Making Mixes can make some money, you need a two-dose potion and caviar, use the caviar on the two-dose potion and it turns into a mix and you get a bit of herblore experience. Not all mixes make money, but some do, always check prices before making. Use the mix calculator to check how much you gain per hour. | Barbarian Training |
***** | Level 82 | Weapon poison++ is a valuable potion that sells for Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". coins each. In order to access the cave nightshade that goes into the potion (and is nontradeable) you must have either completed part of the Watchtower Quest or have 63 Farming to grow it (which is not recommended due to the time that it takes to grow). The Skavid map (from the Watchtower Quest) gives you access to 2 caves with cave nightshade spawns. The first is just east of Castle Wars and the second is the southern most cave. While collecting cave nightshades you can use Magpie for extra cash and/or High Level Alchemy for mage xp. Another option is to splash on the level 1 rat in the southern cave. Cave nightshades respawn approximately every 30 seconds on populated worlds and you get a profit of approximately 1.7k per cave nightshade that you collect. Assuming that you are on a populated world, you get approximately 22,800 Herblore experience and 212,000 coins profit per hour using this method, not including the banking time or the time required to buy the other ingredients and to make the potion. You may also use a locator from Mobilising armies and then click "herblore secondaries". You can use the Assist System if you don't have the required Herblore level. | Either Watchtower or 63 Farming |
