Ranarr potion (unf) are used to create Prayer potions. Because these are often are often used to train Herblore, and adding Clean ranarr to a Vial of water gives no experience, many players avoid the tedium of making unfinished potions and buy them directly from the Grand Exchange. This opens up an opportunity to make unfinished ranarr potions for profit.
You can sometimes make money by just using clean ranarr on a vial of water, but the real trick is using the scroll of cleansing. This Dungeoneering reward costs 20,000 tokens, and gives you a 10% chance of not using up a clean ranarr when creating a ranarr potion (unf). This means that, on average, you would only need 9 clean ranarr and 10 vials of water to create 10 ranarr potion (unf). Getting this scroll can take up to 10 hours depending on your Dungeoneering level and other skills, but it is absolutely worth it if you plan to make unfinished potions. Before buying the ingredients in bulk, make sure that the method is profitable by making one unfinished potion and testing the profit. If the profit is high enough, buy clean ranarr and vials of water in a 9:10 ratio; it may be worthwhile to put in an offer for clean ranarr at a lower price, so they don't buy instantly but they steadily come in. Withdraw 13 ranarr and 15 vials of water, and use one on the other. A menu will open, and click to make-all. After the inventory is complete, you should be left with 14 or 15 unfinished ranarr potions. Deposit your inventory, withdraw 13 herbs and 15 vials of water, and repeat. Each inventory should take about 12 seconds, which means you can make more than 4,000 potions per hour. Once you've finished making your potions, sell them on the Grand Exchange. Maximize your profit by buying one unfinished potion instantly, and selling all of yours for slightly less than that. |
