It can be bought from a Void Knight for 200 commendation points; players must have also have at least 42 [[Attack]], [[Strength]], [[Defence]], [[Constitution]], [[Ranged]], [[Magic]] and 22 [[Prayer]] to buy and wear one. The ranger helm grants the player a +10% bonus towards range if the player is wearing three of four Void equipment pieces (out of a Void knight top, a Void knight robe, Void knight gloves and [[Void Knight deflector]]). The [[Void Knight mace]] is not required for the bonus.

Keep in mind that void knight ranger helm actually gives +10% to damage and to your range level(not accuracy) and as your range level increases so does your max hit so the damage increase is actually 20%. Also remember that you will only get the bonus if you are wearing the full void knight range set.
== Effectiveness ==
A test was conducted to test the effectiveness of both Void knight armour, and a full slayer helm with black dragonhide. The following results are as indicated. A player with 80 ranged found that while on a slayer task of turoths, he could hit on average '''102.54''' for 100 hits on rapid fire with Void knight armour. He also found that he could hit on average '''99.61''' for 100 hits on rapid fire with a [[full slayer helm]] and [[Black dragonhide armour|Black dragonhide]].

Some say it is superior to [[Armadyl armour]] because of its higher hits, and is used for prayer ranging (to greatly increase damage) more often than Armadyl armour. However, the considerable loss of accuracy may be a problem against other players in [[Barrows armour]] with a good shield like an [[obsidian shield|obsidian]] or a [[granite shield]]. However, this should be expected regardless, due to the [[Combat triangle]].

However, unlike either Armadyl or black dragonhide armour, it does not reduce Magic bonus; it therefore may be considered an excellent [[hybrid]] armour. The advantage of using Void Knight armour is not only its higher maximum hit, moderate accuracy, or all-around defence, but the ease of being able to switch helmets with the set to get a different bonus. For example, a Void ranger switches to a Void mage by wearing the [[Void mage helm]] for a quick and simple magic bonus, then casting [[Ice Burst]] magic spell on a foe wearing thick armour. This works especially well in [[activities]] such as [[Fist of Guthix]] where a lot of running is involved.

This set is often seen in the [[Wilderness]] along with a [[Dark bow]] as it can deal 1-hit KOs when using the Descent of Dragons special attack.
