'''Unstrung symbols''' are made by using a [[silver bar]] on a [[furnace]] while holding a [[holy mould]]. This requires level 16 [[crafting]]. A menu appears with "Make [[Saradomin]] symbol". The player earns 50 [[Crafting]] experience for each unstrung symbol made. It takes about 51 seconds to convert a full inventory of silver bars into 28 unstrung symbols.

Unstrung symbols of Saradomin can be purchased for 200 coins at the [[Ardougne Silver Stall]] in [[East Ardougne]] or the [[Stores in Keldagrim#Silver Cog Silver Stall|Silver Cog Silver Stall]] in [[Keldagrim]]. Both stores also buy unstrung Saradomin symbols (only unstrung symbols). The shop in Keldagrim buys them for 120 coins (same as high alchemy value), assuming there are none in player stock. As with all stores, the price offered for each symbol declines slightly according to the number of that item the store currently has in its player stock, so selling large quantities at one time is not recommended. The stall in Ardougne buys them for only 60 coins (absolute minimum), even when there are none in player stock, which is less than 80 coins (same as low alchemy value) that players can get from [[General store]]s.

Using a [[ball of wool]] on an unstrung symbol results in an [[unblessed symbol]] and provides 4 [[Crafting]] experience for each symbol strung. Note that one ball of wool strings only a single symbol. [[Brother Jered]] in the [[monastery]] blesses [[unblessed symbol]]s of [[Saradomin]] for players who have a [[Prayer]] level of at least 31, resulting in a [[holy symbol]]. Players with [[Saradomin's holy book]] and a [[Prayer]] level of at least 50 can bless their own Unblessed symbols to create [[holy symbol]]s at a cost of 40 [[Prayer]] points each.

* When crafting unstrung symbols, the furnace says make ''Saradomin symbols'', not ''holy symbols''.
* Even though it's called holy symbol or Saradomin symbol, like in the Lumbridge and Draynor Achievement Tasks, its real name is unstrung symbol.
* At one time, the silver stalls in Ardougne and Keldagrim bought unstrung symbols for 140 coins and 160 coins, respectively, if none were in stock.
