'''Uncut red topaz''' is a type of semi-precious gem. It can be either obtained using the [[Mining]] skill from [[Shilo Village]]'s gem rocks, a random gem rock during the [[Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup]] [[activity]], from panning at the [[Digsite]] near the [[River Salve]], a possible reward from the [[Gnome Restaurant]] activity, a possible find from Mobilising Armies, a reward from a [[fire spirit]], or buying it off another player.

Red topaz can be cut with a [[chisel]] by a player with 16 [[Crafting]] although there is a high chance that the player will accidentally crush it. Successfully cutting a red topaz grants to player 25 Crafting [[experience]], but if they crush the gem they will receive only 6.3 Crafting experience.

Red topaz is not used in the creation of jewellery, but can be cut into [[red topaz bolt tips]] for use in creating [[red topaz bolts]].

Cut red topaz may be sold to Gabooty's Tai Bwo Wannai Cooperative for 120 trading sticks, uncut may be sold for 24.

The gem is also used to create a [[Red topaz machete]], which fulfills a medium [[Karamja Tasks|Karamja Task]]. Uncut Red Topaz has in the past been considered to be a merch item, with prices reaching the 1-2,000gp range on two occasions in the past year.
