An '''Ugthanki''' is a special kind of vicious [[camel]], which can be found in the [[Kharidian Desert]], located south of [[Shantay Pass]]. They are [[Aggressiveness|aggressive]], so players with low [[life points]] should keep away from them.

Ugthanki are unique in that they are the only creature that drops [[ugthanki meat]], which is used to make the delicious [[ugthanki kebab]]s.

When players speak to an ugthanki using their [[Camulet]], the ugthanki use a variety of insults that refer to ''[[Wikipedia:Monty Python and the Holy Grail|Monty Python and the Holy Grail]]''.

The origin of the name "ugthanki" is unclear. It is unique to ''RuneScape'' as it has no real-world equivalent. It is possible that the name came from "[[Wikipedia:Changthangi|changthangi]]", a kind of goat.<ref>[http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/goats/changthangi/index.htm Changthangi goat, Department of Animal Science, Oklahoma State University]</ref> Another theory suggests that it is a combination of both slang and a portmanteau, the slang being "thanki" for "thank you" and the portmanteau being a combination of the words "ugh" and "thanki." Placed in proper order, this would give the approximate phrase "ugh, thank you." This could be a reference to the fact that these camels are often made to give up their dung to adventurer's in need of it, usually for quest purposes. As such, this phrase would make a rather appropriate response for those adventurers to make to the camel for receiving a much needed, yet decidedly unpleasant item.
