Simple clues are exactly what it says on the tin. They are almost invariably found in [[Clue scroll (easy)|level 1 trails]]. These clues tell precisely what to do; either the player has to talk to someone or search a specified location. They do ''not'' require the player to perform an emote; for those types of clue please see the list of [[emote clues]].
