'''Thrownaxes''' are a type of [[members|members-only]] [[Ranged]] throwing weapon. They must either be bought from the [[Authentic Throwing Weapons]] store at the [[Ranging Guild]] or from another player, as they cannot be made using the [[Smithing]] skill. They can be wielded with [[shield]]s and [[prayer book]]s for protection. Rangers sometimes go for rune thrownaxes because they have a special attack that hits multiple opponents in a [[multicombat area]], which is handy in some situations, such as killing [[kalphites]].

Thrownaxes have a speed factor greater than that of [[javelin]]s but slower than that of [[throwing knife|throwing knives]] and [[dart]]s, making them an evenly balanced throwing weapon in terms of strength and speed.
