Not far out to sea, the ship was beset by pirates, who killed the ship's crew and captain. Samuel narrowly escaped on a barrel, making him the only known survivor.{{NamedRef|lore}} What became of ''The Glass'' is unknown, although it was likely used by the pirates or destroyed.<br />
