A '''Spirit seed''' is a rare [[seed]] that [[Pay-to-play|members]] can use to grow a [[spirit tree]] at level 83 [[Farming]], level 80 with a [[Garden pie]] or at level 79 if a [[stranger plant]] is used (Note that the [[stranger plant]] farming boost is not automatic. You must use the 'Interact' option from the follower control panel.) when planting the seed to a plant pot and the sapling to the patch. It is technically possible to plant it at level 77 farming if the player manages to get a +6 farming boost from brown [[Spicy stew]]s. However, the +6 boost is extremely difficult to get, while the +5 boost is more easily obtained, so it is recommended to reach level 78 farming before attempting to boost via spicy stews.

There are three spirit tree patches, one each at [[Port Sarim]], [[Etceteria]], and [[Brimhaven]]. However, only one spirit tree patch may be planted at one time. After completion of the quest [[Prisoner of Glouphrie]] you may plant and grow, up to two Spirit Trees with level 86 farming (82 with Stranger plant boost and 83 with Garden Pie). You need to pay each farmer separately to watch it if planting two spirit trees. Multiple spirit tree seeds may be planted in plant pots and grown into spirit tree saplings at the same time. Only one or two can be planted. Once the spirit tree is grown or dies, it can be removed and another sapling planted.

Players can buy a spirit seed from [[Mrs. Winkin]] for 55,000 [[Vinesweeper]] points. Growing a spirit tree yields only 19,501.3 Farming experience, so players desiring experience would do better to trade Vinesweeper points for 55,000 Farming experience instead. Players who have completed [[Royal Trouble]] may occasionally receive a spirit seed from [[Managing Miscellania|managing their kingdom]] (workers allocated to farming). They may be obtained from [[Bird's nest]]s, including nests from Miscellania and Etceteria (workers allocated to woodcutting maple or Mahogany trees).

You can also get them as a drop from a [[Ganodermic beast]]. These monsters have a relatively high drop rate of these seeds.

Players must first plant the seed in a [[plant pot]] containing soil, water it from a [[watering can]], and then wait for the seedling to germinate. They must then plant the [[Spirit sapling]] in one of the three spirit tree patches, which are located south of the castle on [[Etceteria]], in north-east [[Port Sarim]], and north-east [[Brimhaven]].

The [[assist system]] can not be used at any point to help others grow Spirit seeds although temporary farming boosts will work for this purpose.

After the quest [[The Prisoner of Glouphrie]], [[Golrana]] wishes to learn about Spirit trees, and will offer a spirit tree seed storage (any number of seeds).
