'''See the Future''' was an event where the [[Runespan]] was featured in an ingame teaser. On [[20 April]] [[2012]], a thread under the name of ''See the Future'' has been added by Mod Timbo, on Future Updates forum.

[http://services.runescape.com/m=forum/sl=0/forums.ws?16,17,406,63693710 This thread] presented a red fence with the words ''See The Future'' painted white on it; below it shows a countdown, which aimed to 20:00 UTC, 28 April 2012. It named three locations: the [[Grand Exchange]], [[Ardougne]] and [[Catherby]].

When the counter hit zero, rifts opened in the locations, which wizards attempted to control, before fading away. This was the reason the event was dubbed "See the Future", as it provided a teaser of the [[Runespan]] before its release.

==Pre-event messages==
When the countdown hit certain numbers, a message was given to every player on their chatbox:
*24 hours- ''Wizards have detected a strange disturbance in the fabric of RuneScape. 24 hours until event.''
*12 hours''- Wizards have detected a strange disturbance in the fabric of RuneScape. 12 hours until event.''
*6 hours- ''Wizards have discovered a small tear in the fabric of RuneScape. 6 hours until event.''
*5 hours- ''Wizards have discovered an expanding tear in the fabric of RuneScape. 5 hours until event.''
*4 hours- ''Wizards have reported a rift in the fabric of RuneScape emerging. 4 hours until event.''
*3 hours- ''Wizards have reported a rift from a strange plane emerging in the fabric of RuneScape. 3 hours until event.''
*2 hours- ''Wizards have reported a rift from a plane with vast amounts of energy, emerging in the fabric of RuneScape. 2 hours until event.''
*1 hour- ''Wizards have reported that a rift emanating from the [[Runespan]] will open in 1 hour.''
*30 minutes- ''Wizards have reported that multiple rifts emanating from the Runespan will open in 30 minutes.''
*15 minutes''- Wizards have reported that multiple rifts emanating from the Runespan will open in 15 minutes. Wizards are preparing to investigate.''
*5 minutes''- Wizards have reported that multiple rifts emanating from the Runespan will open in 5 minutes. Wizards are preparing to investigate!''
*3 minutes''-'' ''Multiple rifts emanating from the Runespan will open in 3 minutes. Wizards are ready to investigate.''
*1 minute- ''Multiple rifts emanating from the Runespan will open in 1 minute. Wizards have been dispatched to investigate.''

Wizards then teleported to [[Ardougne]], [[Catherby]], and the [[Grand Exchange]], trying to control the opening of a rift, which released various [[Esslings]] and then turned into a [[runesphere]].
