The boots can be obtained by exchanging 100 Honour Points in each role from the [[Barbarian Assault]] [[minigame]], and are useful in all combat styles.<br />

These boots are not seen often, as many players prefer to wear [[Rune boots]], also equipable at level 40 Defence, instead of spending the time to earn 100 points in each role to buy the Penance Boots. Rune Boots have exactly the same bonuses, although they lack the special set effect, but players don't have to get 100 points in each role. Many players however chose the [[Climbing boots]] instead of the Rune and Penance boots because they offered the same +2 strength, despite having no better stats than the Rune boots and require nothing to wear. Due to an update, however, they got far more expensive, which decreased their popularity.<br />

The Penance Boots have a special bonus: by wearing the [[Fighter torso]], [[Penance gloves]], [[Penance skirt]] and any Penance hat with these boots they restore prayer over time.<br />
