The '''rune hasta''' is a members-only, one-handed [[melee]] [[weapons|weapon]], similar to the spear, that can only be used in combat. It is the best hasta in RuneScape (as there is no Dragon hasta, though Jagex has mentioned their plan is to also introduce dragon hasta, also see: [[Dragon equipment]]). To wield this weapon the player needs at least 40 [[Attack]]. The rune hasta can be [[poison]]ed.<br />

To create a rune hasta the player needs to have completed training with [[Otto Godblessed]], have at least 90 [[Smithing]], some [[magic logs]], a [[Rune bar]] and a [[hammer]]. The player then needs to use the bar on the [[anvil]] to make the rune hasta. This will grant the player 150 Smithing experience.<br />

In general, hastae are rarely used due to their requirements and the negative defence bonus they confer. However, since hastae are one handed, they may be equipped with a shield, increasing the defence bonuses of the player.<br />
