Necrolords are a Dungeoneering boss encountered on the Occult floors, requiring a Dungeoneering level of 77 to encounter and fight, they are powerful necromancers in the Occult floors and responsible for the creation of the Skeletal trio.

The boss will be at the other side of the room, walking around as the usual. Once a player comes, he will "close" in on the player and will be adjacent to the dead hands wall. The boss will stay there for the remainder of the fight, so you do not have to go far from the door to start attacking him.

Necrolord is located behind a barrier of dead hands, making him impossible to harm with melee attacks. Therefore, players must attack with Magic or Ranged. During the fight, he will summon up to five Skeletal minions to attack players. It is impossible to walk or shoot through the skeletons, and players will not gain any combat experience from damaging them. This boss will be hard for those with low ranged, so if your ranged is low, it can take 30+ minutes to kill (solo).

Necrolord's primary attack is earth wave, which can be completely blocked by Protect from Magic or Deflect Magic. However, his secondary attacks, a binding spell, hits through protection prayers, as will another attack that halves running energy. However, these secondary attacks may be completely avoided by running away from the targeted spot. When he summons skeletons, it casts up to five small purple balls onto different spots on the floor, and the undead would appear in those squares. It is recommended to teleport out of the boss room if you see this cast since the Skeletons hit very high and through prayers. You can stay a while, because the skeletons will wander around similar to the skeletal horde, but will start attacking you earlier. The skeletons will also "home" in on the person that they attacked.

Getting hit by the drain energy spell will deal random damage, so get out from the targeted area. Do the same with the bind attack, it does the same amount of damage. Getting hit by the drain energy spell will say "You feel weary."

Before any skeletons are summoned, it is recommended to run up to the barrier and Protect from Magic or Deflect Magic to drastically reduce damage taken. After Necrolord summons the skeletons, it's best to not switch to Protect from Melee or Deflect Melee, because they hit quickly and are very accurate and strong for their combat level and can hit through these prayers, although they have low life points and almost no defence. Instead, players should teleport out after they are summoned and while for about 30 seconds when they die out, then continue the fight and repeat this method again when the Necrolord summons his Skeletal minions again. It should be noted that Vengeance only activates if the Necrolord himself damages a player (i.e. skeletal minions do not activate vengeance).

A strategy that is sometimes used is to summon Deathslingers to deal range damage. If you teleport out of the boss room, your Deathslingers will stay in the room, attacking the Necrolord. The summoned skeletons will not attack your Deathslinger. However, you must be attacked, or the familiar will just try to follow you. Also they will get called back, so this method is not effective.

Another strategy involving the use of familiars is to focus all your attacks on the Necrolord and tank the damage from the skeletons. Have you familiar attack the skeletons when they appear, and attack the Necrolord when none have been summoned.

One method is to attack the necrolord with some mages and rangers. This ensures the necrolord dies faster and ends the dungeon faster. This method requires 32/64 magic, and lagless connection. When the skeletons appear, teleport out and wait for them to die off, similar to the zombies the necromancers summon. Charge in when the skeletons die, and attack the necrolord, remembering to have a gatestone or group gatestone outside the boss room. If optional, but is dangerous, you can attack 1/2 more times after the skeletal minions are summoned (depending on the bow type), and then teleport out.

The best strategy if someone in the party has a Hexhunter bow is for them to solo the boss while everyone else finishes the floor. If finished, others should tank (see below).

"DDing"
This strategy is faster, but also more dangerous and is commonly used in higher level teams.

#When you run in, run to a corner between the very back row and the Necrolord.
#Start attacking the boss with bows or Earth surge spells.
#One person should tank. This means that they stand one space in front of (towards the door side of the room) the other people with auto-retaliate off. The skeletons will attack this person and will not be able to get through to the damage-dealers. Be sure that the tank has an abundance of food and does not attack any skeletons.
#Keep going until food runs out or the boss is dead. The people attacking shouldn't take a huge amount of damage.

If your team does not use a tank, if everyone is in one of the aforementioned spots, only one or two skeletons will attack at a time, reducing damage by a huge amount.

Trivia
* The necrolords, much like Astea Frostweb (among other bosses), have an irregular attack speed. Although their normal attack speed is 5 bars on the speed scale, it may randomly increase or decrease for one attack. Since they only use magic to attack, this is probably intentional, to thwart prayer flashing.
* Prior to the update that made all spells of a given element use the same sound effects, his Earth Wave attack used the same sound effects as Earth Blast.
* Ironically, even though he casts earth magic, he is weak to it at the same time.
* His drain energy spell looks like the Vulnerability spell, a spell that lowers defence more.
* Before a recent update, unlike other voice acting similar to forgotten mages or necromancers, the sound when you damaged a Necrolord sounded like hissing. When the Necrolord dies, he sounded similar to a dying Vampyre. The update changed this and he now has the same voice acting as the other mages in Daemonheim.
* The Entangle and energy draining spells seem to be slower when you get closer to the wall. It might be a glitch.
* When hitting through Protect from Melee, the skeletal minions' hitsplats do not have a melee icon.
* In the past, the damage from the Skeletal Minions can be completely nullified with Protection from Melee prayer. However, an update removed this ability, and it only offers partial protection.
* In the Fremennik Saga, Nadir, a level 51 necrolord named Yudura is encountered. Oddly, he appears in the Furnished floor portion.
