The Mining Guild, located in and beneath Falador, is available to both members and free players with a Mining level of 60 or above. The mine is accessible from either the Mining Guild's above-ground complex in the south-east of the city or, alternatively, through the gate at the southern end of the subterranean dwarven mines. Both of these entrances are guarded by dwarves who will answer questions about the guild and who will also stop players without the required Mining level from entering. Players should note, however, that temporary boosts may be used to enter the guild.

Players are able to enter the Mining Guild with a Mining level of 59 by first drinking a Dwarven stout. Alternatively, members may drink a Mature dwarven stout and enter with a Mining level of 58. Members are also able to interact with their summoned Desert wyrm, providing a Mining level boost of 1. Lastly, members can try their luck with a brown spicy stew, which can potentially raise their Mining level by 6 and allow them to enter the guild with a Mining level of 54, although this is not a particularly efficient means of entering the guild as the boost provided by the stew is random and may in fact decrease the player's Mining level.

Transportation
*Players may use a Skills necklace to teleport themselves to the ladder just above the Mining Guild.
*The Falador teleport will transport a player to the Falador town square, just to the north-west of the guild entrance.
*The dwarven mine cart system can be used to travel to the north-west corner of the dwarven mines. From there, players are able to follow the mines south until they reach the below-ground mining guild entrance.
*The cabbage-port function of the Explorer's ring lands the player in the cabbage field to the south east of the city, from which point they can run to the guild.
*A Clan vexillum can be used to teleport to the Clan camp, which is just south of Falador and therefore the guild.

Features
The Mining Guild is popular amongst miners due to its proximity to Falador's eastern bank. Also it is easier to bank due to the Deposit Box in the resource dungeon just outside of the guild. Furthermore, a furnace can be found further west in Falador, near the entrance to the White Knights' Castle. An anvil can be found inside the mine, making the entire location a good place to train smithing. In addition, gems may sometimes be found lying on the floor, discarded by players who drop them in order to carry more ores.

Some players use the Mining Guild as a means of reaching southern Falador without travelling above-ground from Ice Mountain to the north.

Generally due to the large amount of coal rocks, it is standard etiquette to let the first person to reach a coal rock claim it. However, this does not apply to mithril rocks and it is an accepted practice for many people to compete for a single rock.

Many miners superheat their mithril bars on location to save time on banking trips. This may, or may not, be a faster method of money-making. It should be noted, however, that valuable magic experience is gained using this method, and the bars are directly deposited into one's inventory, saving also on the time of running to and from a furnace.

There is a Dungeoneering resource dungeon available to free players and members just by the ladders that lead into the guild. It requires a Dungeoneering level of at least 45 to enter, and gives 4400 Dungeoneering experience for the first entrance. This dungeon contains 3 Runite rocks, 4 Adamantite rocks, 8 Mithril rocks.

Rocks
The Mining Guild contains the following rocks:
*37 Coal rocks
*5 Mithril rocks
The Mining Guild's resource dungeon contains:
*8 Mithril rocks
*4 Adamantite rocks
*3 Runite rocks

Spawn point
A bronze pickaxe may be found in the above ground western room of the guild. As any miners who are able to use the guild have a sufficient Mining level to use a rune pickaxe or inferno adze (after All Fired Up) this spawn is more often utilised by lower level players, who are able to access the above ground rooms.

Mining skillcape
One of the dwarves found guarding the city entrance to the guild is none other than the Master of Mining and is able to sell the Mining Cape of Accomplishment to members who have achieved a mining level of 99 for a fee of 99,000 coins.

History
Initial Interests
In the Year 8 of the Fifth Age, the tribal leader Raddallin united a variety of local settlers under the banner of what would soon become the nation of Asgarnia. Using the power of the newly discovered arts of runecrafting and magic, coupled with the military aid of the Kinshra and White Knights, Asgarnia flourished, driving out many of its hostile races and solidifying the settlement of Falador.

While many of the area's races, such as the goblins and giants, were hostile and refused to make peace with the human settlers, some of the older peoples to inhabit the area were more accepting. Amongst these were the dwarves, who had lived in a large colony beneath Ice Mountain for perhaps hundreds of years. The dwarves, including the Imcando who lived mainly in halls such as Camdozaal, were cautious, agreeing to an uneasy treaty that alleviated any military conflict that the Dwarven Realm might have with Asgarnia. Although this did prevent battle, the peace between the dwarves and humans was somewhat uneasy; during the Fourth Age, many dwarves had fought to keep humans on the surface.

As Falador flourished over the years, its political ability did as well. The military might of the White Knights, Kinshra, Temple Knights, and Asgarnian Royal Family made it a force to be reckoned with, despite its internal turmoil. The dwarves, not wanting to initiate a war, agreed to keep their mines limited to the largely untamed pine forests of the north. This was a subject of controversy amongst many of the colony's high council, who felt they had rights to the extremely rich ore seams which lined the caverns beneath Falador.

Dwarven Diplomacy
In the winter of the Year 164 of the Fifth Age, the Kinshra Lord Sulla declared war upon Asgarnia and the Dwarven Realm. Amassing a considerable army of Kinshra knights, chaos dwarves, mercenaries from the Wilderness, and native goblin tribes (with the exceptions of the Thorobshuun and Garagorshuun), Sulla orchestrated what would come to be known as the War of 164.

The dwarven council was divided over whether to offer support for Asgarnia, which continued to have an uneasy peace with the dwarves. Some argued that Sulla would not attack their people if they remained neutral, while others cited his Zamorakian extremist tendencies and alliance with their enemies, the chaos dwarves, as sufficient reason to join Asgarnia. Doric, a dwarven blacksmith from Keldagrim that had shown support for Asgarnia during the War, led a diplomatic committee before the council, hoping to gain their support.

The adventuress Kara-Meir, alongside several other prominent individuals, eventually convinced the dwarves of the mountain to aid them in ending the Siege of Falador, which had entered its peak during the course of the diplomatic debates. Under Commander Blanheim, a commander of the Dwarven Black Guard, some 900 dwarven soldiers travelled south to fight the Kinshra in the siege. Along the way, they joined Lord Radebaugh and his force of 600 Burthorpe Imperial Guard.

Together, the collective forces of the region were able to crush the Kinshra assault and narrowly save Falador. The dwarves' willingness to aid Asgarnia would play a key role in securing a far more friendly relationship between the region's dwarven population and both Misthalin and Asgarnia.

The Creation of the Guild
In early 165, the dwarves were given permission to extend their mines to the veins beneath Falador, which had previously been restricted under a decades-old land agreement. The Dwarven Mines would expand greatly under this agreement, making it one of the largest in the world.

The Mining Guild was the most significant of these expansions. The massive quantities of mithril and coal in the area would make it ideal for the dwarves' mining purposes. The ore would be used to supply both their colony beneath the mountain and, although it was still unknown to most of the human population, their capital city of Keldagrim. In a gesture of good will, qualifying humans are to this day granted permission to what could legally be made a dwarf-only guild.

Trivia
*The Mining Guild has the highest skill requirement of all Free-to-play accessible guilds, and the fourth highest single-skill requirement of all guilds (coming behind the Wizards' Guild's requirement of 66 Magic and the Fishing Guild's requirement of 68 Fishing and the warriors guild of having a combined level of attack and strength adding to 130 or 99 in either level).
*In RSC, the Mining Guild used to be members only.
*Along with the 1 July update of the RuneScape graphical changes, the Mining Guild offered people the chance to go inside even if their mining levels were below 60. Players just had to climb down the ladder and they would gain entrance. This glitch has been fixed.
*On occasion, dwarves in the building housing the ladder to the Mining Guild can be spotted roaming as far as outside the walls of Falador.
*On 7 October 2010, the Mining Guild had its appearance updated.
*Due to the use of coal by smithers, the Mining Guild is usually infested with large amounts of bots, requiring you to fight over the 37 coal rocks within.
