'''Leather chaps''' are a piece of weak [[leather armour]] worn on the legs, most commonly by low-level rangers. Users of [[magic]] also often wear chaps, since they give slight defence bonuses without a magic attack penalty. Players can make this item through the [[Crafting]] skill at level 18 from a [[leather|soft leather]], granting 27 Crafting [[experience]]. Unlike most chaps in RuneScape these chaps do not cover the inner leg area, the colour shown is the player's default clothes.

At level 44 Crafting, [[steel studs]] can be added to the chaps to make [[studded chaps]], giving 42 Crafting experience.

Leather chaps can also be purchased at [[Lowe's Archery Emporium]] in [[Varrock]].

You can only buy 5,000 leather chaps at a time from the [[Grand Exchange]]. Other than this problem, leather chaps are a very good investment item for [[Mobilising Armies]].
