Kara-Meir is a central character in the first RuneScape novel, Betrayal at Falador. Kara-Meir was some 8 years old when her village in northern Asgarnia was destroyed at the hands of the Kinshra led by a commander named Sulla. This has left her with a lust for vengeance, leading her to hunt her family's murderer.

Kara-Meir arrived in Falador in the year 164, when a Ring of Life first owned by her father Sir Justrain saved her from death. From that point on, she played a central role in the War of 164.

History
Early life
Kara-Meir was supposedly born in the Year 147 as she was 17 in the book, which was in 164. She was born unto her father, Sir Justrain, who was an exiled White Knight posing as a woodcutter and an unnamed mother in a village on Ice Mountain which is now destroyed. During her childhood, she helped nurse a bear cub back to health, and was taken to the Monastery by her father to be blessed by the monks. However, in 155, Sir Finistere tipped off the Kinshra of Sir Justrain's presence in the village, causing a raid on the village. Sir Justrain and Kara's mother were killed, but not before Kara's mother gave Kara-Meir supplies and told her to run away, before she was dragged by her hair out of the hut. The Kinshra released their dogs to chase after Kara-Meir, but she managed to escape onto a small island in the middle of a lake.

She managed to kill a wolf and crawl inside it to keep warm until she was found by Master Phyllis and his group of dwarves, who came out to help any survivors of the raid. Master Phyllis adopted Kara-Meir and gave her the name "Kara-Meir" which was ancient dwarvish for "Wolf Cub" and showed her how to fight and make weapons. During her 9 years under the mountain, Kara-Meir's eyes adjusted to the dark so well that she could see in the darkest of places.

Betrayal at Falador
Fight with the Kinshra
After her nine years under Ice Mountain, Kara-Meir set out to find the Kinshra. Before she departed, Master Phyllis gave Kara-Meir an Adamant longsword to protect herself. Kara-Meir set out to kill the Kinsha, but was almost killed in a fall if it wasn't for her father's Ring of Life her mother put in the pack so long ago. She was transported to Falador, barely alive.

She was soon found by Squire Theodore during a massive storm. She was put in the infirmary of the White Knights' Castle. Over time, she recovered from her ordeal and was strong enough to beat Marius. She later departs for Gunnarsgrunn when she finds out that Sir Amik Varze was planning to use her as bait to reveal the traitor. There she meets Castimir, Ebenezer and Gar'rth. She then participates in the Battle for the Monastery and the Siege of Falador, in which she severs the hands of Sulla, who was the Kinshra lord of that time.

Aftermath of Betrayal at Falador
After the Siege of Falador, Kara-Meir announced that she would go and try to find her mother's name and find her now destroyed village and put a marker. She plans to meet with her friends at Varrockon Midsummer's Eve. Ebenezer named Kara-Meir one of
his heirs.

Personality
Kara-Meir has a very short temper, probably because of experiences as a child. She is willing to risk everything to save her friends.

Abilities
Strength
Kara-Meir's fighting skills rival that to a White Knight squire, an adult werewolf, several Kinshra troops, and a lord of the Kinshra. This probably puts her combat level somewhere in the upper 70's to low 80's range, albeit the fact that she is only wielding an adamant longsword and Heroes being equipped with full rune and not being as strong.

Night Vision
Due to her nine years spent under Ice Mountain, Kara-Meir is able to see in the darkest of places, helping her when she battles Jerrod.

Relationships
Gar'rth
Kara-Meir may have a romantic interest in the werewolf youth, Gar'rth as they are both considered outsiders. He is also treated very poorly by King Roald's men when they find out that he is a werewolf. His father is the Black Prince and he really is half-werewolf and half-human. Thus, Zamorak's effects did not cause him harm at the monastery.

Master Phyllis
Ever since Master Phyllis found Kara-Meir on Ice Mountain, he adopted her and treated her as his own. He taught her how to fight and how to smith and teaching her many other things. When he was dying in the year 164, he had a dream about Guthix that led him to making a banner of a Ring of Life and a White Pearl and a vial with the Tears of Guthix.

Trivia
*Kara-Meir has at least an Attack level of 30 as she can wield an adamant longsword.

*Kara-Meir is mentioned by King Roald in-game, confirming at least parts of the storyline of the books are also part of the RuneScape lores. (Doric, Sir Amik Varze and Reldo also have some parts of information; this was mentioned in an update about 1 week after the 2nd book came out.)
