'''Illuminated god books''' are the upgraded version of the [[god book]]s from [[Horror from the Deep]]. Players can make these after completion of the [[One Piercing Note]] quest if they have 60 [[Prayer]] and 60 [[Crafting]] (boosts can be used). The first time each type of book is crafted, 10,000 prayer and crafting experience is received.

Illuminated Books have the same stats as the normal books, but with an additional +3 prayer, for a total of +8 prayer, thus surpassing the previous maximum prayer bonus in the game held by the [[Falador shield]]s 3 and 4 which was +7. The requirements for books are much lower in comparison to the several needed for the [[Falador tasks]].

The look of the book will also change if it is illuminated, and making an illuminated book does not destroy the original. Players can own more than one copy of the same illuminated god book at once. Once an illuminated book is made, the original can be discarded, as the illuminated book may be used to create more.

To make an Illuminated god book, use a completed prayer book on the 'Book-making table' in the room most south of [[Abbess Benita]]. Each of the 4 steps in copying the book requires 200-250 prayer points. The steps are: 1 Copy text, 2 Embellish initial capitals, 3 Add colour, and 4 Add gold leaf. It must be done in the order listed otherwise the work is ruined and must be restarted requiring prayer recharging. Each action can be completed with fewer prayer points, therefore it makes the process of making books faster with at least 80 prayer. If no prayer points are available, there is an altar in the oratory at the east end of the abbey to recharge prayer, which is essential if a player wishes to make more than one book at once. It is possible to do the last step without having 200 prayer points remaining (for example, if a player has 71 prayer and has 110 prayer points remaining at the last step, he/she will still be able to complete the book).

Overall, if a prayer renewal potion is used, you can keep creating "sections" of the book each time your prayer points reach 21.

The required levels to upgrade the books '''CANNOT''' be reached by using the Assist System, although they '''CAN''' be boosted with stat boosting potions.

The books will take you from level 60 to 62 if you do all of them at one time.
