It requires a [[Magic]] level of 82 and can do a maximum of 260 damage per spell, 305+ damage with an [[Ancient Staff]], 353 with a [[Staff of Light]] and an [[Extreme magic]] or [[Overload]] potion, and 405 with those bonuses, and attacking a flagholder in [[Castle Wars]] using the [[castlewars bracelet]]. It will freeze your target, making them unable to move for 15 seconds. The quest [[Desert Treasure]] must be completed to cast this spell like with all [[Ancient Magicks]] spells. This spell is popular because of the lower magic level and the fewer runes required to cast compared to [[Ice Barrage]]. This spell is also often used by hybrids because it takes a few seconds after the spell is cast for the damage to reach the target. That will increase the chance of a kill if this spell is used in conjunction with a ranged or melee weapon, or even just followed up with a stronger ice spell such as [[Barrage spells|Barrage]] to "stack" the two attacks, increasing the chance of a quick kill. A good method is to have a higher mage level than 82 for extra accuracy. A good PvP tactic would be for a [[Dark bow]] rusher to use ice blitz while wearing ranged armour that does not decrease magic attack like the [[Void ranger set]] and then use the Dark bow [[special attack]] for a high kill rate.
