'''Guthan's platebody''' is [[Armour#Melee armour|melee armour]] worn in the [[Inventory#Body Slot|body slot]] that is part of [[Guthan the Infested's equipment|Guthan The Infested's set]] of [[barrows equipment]]. To wear Guthan's platebody, a player must have 70 [[Defence]]. It is currently tied with [[Torag's platebody]] and [[Dharok's platebody]] as being the strongest platebody in the game, behind [[Statius's platebody]] and [[Torva platebody]]. Despite being cheaper than the [[Torag's platebody|Torag's]] or [[Dharok's platebody]], the Guthan's platebody is rarely used outside of the Guthan's set. This is likely due to the belief by many players that the platebody has lower bonuses.

[[Torag's platebody]], [[Dharok's platebody]], and Guthan's platebody have identical stats, tied for second place for highest stab and ranged defence, third for slash defence and fourth for crush defence.

Being part of the [[Guthan's set]], if Guthan's platebody is worn along with all of the other pieces of equipment in the set the player receives a special effect. Successful attacks have a chance of replenishing one [[Lifepoint]] for each damage the player deals. ''As with all [[Barrows equipment]], this item '''cannot''' be made using the [[Smithing]] [[skill]].''

Despite Guthan's having more than average combat stats, it is mostly used by players to heal (and to save inventory space due to the need of food) and then they revert back to their regular melee armour. This method saves money and ultimately puts off having to repair the armour as regularly. Guthan's platebody is a cheap alternative for people who cannot afford a dragon chainbody or do not want to spend time getting a [[Fighter torso]]. Many summoning tanks use this armour as it is incredibly strong thus making a summoning pure almost invincible to much higher level players. The set effect also proves useful for training slayer due to Its healing effect.

[[Scam]]mers have been known to offer [[studded body|studded bodies]] or [[Hardleather body|hardleather bodies]] instead of Guthan's platebodies in hopes that the other player does not notice the difference. Due to the armour graphical update, however, this has become uncommon.
