The first appearance of a '''Gnoeals''' is during the [[Glorious Memories]] [[quest]], in the [[Rellekka Hunter Area Dungeon]]. They are responsible for turning [[Nial]] into a [[yeti]] and supposedly turn all adventurers they meet into yetis with a green goo of some sort. The speed at which they transform is relative to the exposure. Nial was hit by the brunt of the attack and thus transformed immediately while Vargas was only hit by a small amount and so was able to stave off a full transformation for many years.<br />

Apart from their habitat and their ability to corrupt adventurers and turn them into [[yeti]]s, their origin is unknown.

It is suggested that the player use a good magic defence boosting armour, such as [[dragonhide armour|dragonhide]] or [[Karil's set|Karil's equipment]]. Only the level 84 Gnoeals are aggressive, so staying away from them is an effective tactic, as their magic attacks are very accurate. Using a cannon is also recommended if players are high in defense. Weaker players may also choose to use [[protect from melee|melee protecting prayers]] if they are attacked by several yetis at once, but this is not advised as the Gnoeals can hit harder than the yetis. Occasionally the yetis and the Gnoeals attack each other, similar to the inhabitants of the [[God Wars Dungeon]]. Gnoeals have a fairly decent drop rate for level 2 [[Clue scroll]]s, and are advised for higher-levelled players in search of level 2 clues.

*The goo attack used on the player does not turn them into a yeti, but will get the occasional quotes in the chatbox like "You feel your hands getting bigger" suggesting a would-be transformation.
*Monster Examine states that the max hits of level 84 and 93 Gnoeals are 94 and 114 life points, respectively. However, the actual max hit for both levels is about 120. This might not be a glitch, though, as Monster Examine typically gives the maximum ''melee'' hit.
