The Gluttonous behemoth is a boss monster that was released along with the Dungeoneering skill. It can only be encountered during Dungeoneering. After losing half of its life points, it starts to rapidly heal itself by eating the carcass(es) on either side of it (there will only be one carcass on a single-player dungeon floor). The only way to prevent it from healing is by standing between the behemoth and its food source(s).

Journal
According to the notes that may be dropped on the beast's death, there are more behemoths to be found throughout the dungeon. Only the ones with thick hides were sent to the top as guards. Due to the cold, there would barely be any food, making them more aggressive and able to fight for more. The other four behemoths that can be seen are the Bulwark beast, Stomp, the Runebound behemoth, and the Hope devourer.

Strategy
A good strategy would be equipping melee armour and using the crush style, while having the Protect from Magic prayer activated. Standing under it will cause the behemoth to stomp the player and deal damage through any prayer.

If there are two or more people in the party, then there will be two carcasses which need to be blocked by one player each. If only one player is in the party at the start of the raid, then there will only be one carcass. If the carcasses are not blocked, the behemoth will begin eating to restore its lifepoints to maximum. As of 15 March 2011, it can only do this once per dungeon, making fights less frustrating.

Therefore, if the party starts with more than one player, and all but one drop out, the remaining player will not be able to defeat the beast without it healing. One strategy for solo mages/rangers is to put their gatestone between the beast and the food, then running back and activating prayer opposite the armour they're wearing. Therefore the only weakness would be that which can be blocked by their current armour. Unfortunately, if one player dies in duo mode, the beast will be able to regain health while the player comes back to the boss room. To prevent this, you should drop a gatestone on the spot between the beast and the carcass. When approaching death, open the magic spellbook tab, and be ready to teleport to your gatestone as soon as you die. Do not forget to create and drop another stone as soon as possible in the boss room. If soloing, having a gatestone on you is a great choice in the case you die. It will automatically be dropped, so by teleporting back you will automatically be in between the behemoth and the carcass, preventing him from restoring any health.
Trivia
*Occasionally, the Gluttonous behemoth disappears while attacking it with Soul Split activated. This has not been fixed.
*On a 5:5 floor, the Gluttonous Behemoth is the highest levelled boss that can be faced in free-to-play, at level 238. It is followed by Icy Bones at level 220.
*The experience gained from attacking the Gluttonous behemoth was similar to that of a sandbag found in Lumbridge, to discourage players training their combat skills with no risk against a monster with potentially infinite lifepoints. This was changed when the behemoth was limited to healing once per floor.
*Before Dungeoneering was updated to ignore Summoning levels on a player, it was possible to fight Gluttonous behemoths of combat level 613.
