}}

Note: To obtain the ring of charos (a), the quest only needs to be completed past the Wise Old Man's test.

Teleports for quicker travel are optional but highly recommended:
The Lodestone Network offers teleportation to Varrock, Edgeville, Draynor, Ardougne, Burthorpe, and Catherby, eliminating the need for enchanted jewellery. An ectophial is useful to reach Port Phasmatys.

Starting out
To start the quest, go to the kitchen in the Varrock palace, exit through the kitchen's eastern door, and go south through the trellis into a fenced garden, where Queen Ellamaria is. Speak to her about the untidy garden, and she will hand over a list of the plants she needs.

Enchanting the ring
With the ring of charos obtained from completing the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest after pick pocketing Dr Fenkenstrain, head for Draynor Village and talk to the Wise Old Man (house opposite Draynor bank). He will tell a story about Queen Ellamaria before she was married to King Roald and the history of Charos and the origin of his ring. The Wise Old Man tells you he will activate the power in the ring if you can correctly answer a few questions to see whether you are worthy of owning an activated ring.

The answers to the questions are as follows:
#Show them a range of colours so that they can come to a compromise.
#Take his generous gift even though you have no need for it.
#It's absolutely, unquestionably the most interesting thing I've ever done!
#Put on the silly helmet and jump into the cannon.
#You of course (Player Name), no one could ever challenge your greatness!
#Ask me nicely and I might consider it.
#No, especially not that wise old man, who doesn't look at all suspicious.

After answering the questions correctly, the Wise Old Man will enchant the ring of charos. Now, when wearing the Ring of Charos (a), you will be able to persuade the NPCs on the Queen's list by using dialogue including the word Charm in parentheses. (Note: After the Wise Old Man enchants your ring, any banked spares you may have picked up during Creature Of Fenkenstrain will disappear.)

Obtaining the seeds
The objective of the quest is to obtain the necessary seeds from certain NPC farmers, and plant them in the Queen's garden. The garden does NOT have its own tool leprechaun. However, there is one nearby at the Tree patch so you have a choice between bringing your tools or running to the leprechaun. With the exception of the white tree, the plants do not take long to grow, so it is recommended that you do them at the end. Watering is not needed for the Queen's garden; neither is compost, except for the two varieties of orchid seeds by the same name. The NPCs can be visited in any order, but it is recommended that you visit them in the order that follows:

Dantaera, Catherby and Brother Althric, Monastery
Items needed for this section: Ring of charos(a), filled plant pot, a watering can, secateurs, and a non-toolbelt fishing rod.

This step is recommended first because it takes a while for the White tree sapling to grow.

Head to Dantaera in Catherby (she's the gardener at the allotment farming patch.) Camelot teleport, the Catherby lodestone, or Charter ship are the easiest ways to reach her. Speak to her with the ring of charos worn. Select the (charm) options whenever possible, and Dantaera will instruct you cut a branch from the almost extinct White Tree, which is on the top of Ice Mountain, near the Oracle and Falador.

NOTE: Do not confuse the Ice Mountain, which is in Free-to-Play and near Falador, with the White Wolf Mountain, which is near Catherby.

After talking to Dantaera, go to the bank and grab a filled plant pot and a watering can with water. Go to Edgeville, via Glory teleport, lodestone, Varrock/Grand Exchange teleport, or fairy ring DKR. Or, if you have completed Fishing Contest AND The Giant Dwarf, you can use the Wolf Mountain underground shortcut, take a cart ride to Keldagrim, and ride to the Grand Exchange. Then run to Edgeville. Don't head for Ice Mountain yet, though; there's work here to do.

Head west from Edgeville towards the Ice Mountain, and you'll pass the Monastery. Head to the rose garden at the north end, where you'll find Brother Althric. Try to talk with him using the (Charm) dialogue option, he will sense you are using an unnatural power and say you are "concealing something of great evil." He suggests you either throw the "dark talisman" down the well in Edgeville or simply destroy it. Do not throw away or destroy the ring before being told by Althric to do so.

Return to Edgeville, and throw the ring down the local well, at the north-east corner of Evil Dave's house. If you instead destroy it, you will have to go to Fenkenstrain's Castle or Harmony Island and pickpocket Dr. Fenkenstrain to recover the ring.

With the ring thrown away, return to the Monastery and attempt to take the seeds (from the rosebushes) again. This time Althric will be pleased you have "taken the road back towards the light" and will allow you to take the rose seeds: red rose seeds, pink rose seeds, and white rose seeds. Make sure you get all three rose seeds! Althric will let slip a suggestion on how one might retrieve the ring - which you will do after getting the white tree sample.

Head west from the Monastery to the Ice Mountain. (Note: If you haven't yet talked to Dantaera, you can't get a clipping from the tree; instead it gives you a message that this will kill the tree and you can't bring yourself to do it.) Climb to the tip and you'll find the White Tree, located near the Oracle. Take a sample with your secateurs (if you try to use a knife it will not work), and put it in your filled plant pot (make sure your secateurs are in your inventory, don't wield them because it won't give you the option to cut the white tree. Click on your secateurs then click on the white tree). Plant in filled plant pot. WATER IT. Return to Edgeville.

To retrieve your ring of charos, use your fishing rod or fly fishing rod (any rod in your toolbelt or the oily fishing rod does not work) on the well in Edgeville. It might take several tries, but you will eventually get it back. If you destroyed the ring, you have the chance to get it back from Fenkenstrain's Castle before speaking to Lyra.

Now either use your Ectophial or take the fairy ring south of the bridge in Edgeville on the east side of the River Lum which will allow you easy access to Lyra, in Port Phasmatys. If using fairy rings, use code ALQ. (this will spawn you near some Level 70 aggressive vampyres). Run north to the allotment.

Lyra, Port Phasmatys
Items needed for this section: Ring of charos (a) equipped, three onion seeds, a bucket of compost/super compost and an Ectophial (optional). It's also recommended to bring some plant cure or about 100 coins, if you do not already have marigolds planted at the flower patch.

Fastest Transportation: Ectophial (needs completion of Ghosts Ahoy quest), fairy ring ALQ (note: this will spawn you near level 52 leeches and level 71 vampyres. Run north towards the patch. Teleport using the Amulet of Glory to Karamja, from there use the charter ship to Port Phasmatys (if it is your first time using the charter, make sure you bring 1,100 coins for the trip.), then run north-west

It is recommended that you bring marigold seeds for this part of the quest, as they are easily obtained from the Grand Exchange.

Go to the undead farm between Port Phasmatys and the Fenkenstrain's Castle (check your world map for reference; it's the farming icon west of Port Phasmatys. Speak to Lyra at the allotments, selecting the (Charm) option until she requests that you grow some onions. Then, agree to her offer without using the (Charm) option.

Rake an allotment and pour the bucket of compost or super compost. Plant some onion seeds in the allotment, water the plantation every turn, and cure disease if necessary. Note that if you have fully grown marigolds planted in the nearby flower patch, you do not need to worry about the onions becoming diseased, and you can head directly to the next step ("Perhaps I should check the onions that I planted for Lyra..." will appear during the quest). If not, you have to wait 40 minutes for the onions to grow. When the onions are fully grown, make sure you have two open inventory slots. A player cannot Pay Lyra to look over their Onions during the quest. Attempting to pay for your plot will result in her criticizing you.

This is a good time to head back to the Queen to plant your rose seeds and white tree sapling. Grab a rake, seed dibber, spade, and two buckets of compost or supercompost. Fill the stone pots for the orchids with the compost. Note that no other plants need compost.

Kragen, between Hemenster and Ardougne
Items needed for this section: Ring of charos (a) equipped, three cabbage seeds, a bucket of compost / super compost and a watering can. It's also recommended to bring some plant cure or about 100 coins, if you do not already have some rosemary planted in the nearby flower patch.

Once again, rosemary seeds are strongly recommended for this part of the quest.

Go to the farming patch just north of East Ardougne. The best method of transportation is using the Ardougne Lodestone, but the patch is also accessible by Camelot teleport, then walking south, or even better, fairy ring BLR, which teleports you to the Legend's Guild, then walking north-west to the patch. Players can also use a Skills necklace to teleport to the Fishing Guild, just a bit west of the patch. A direct teleport is provided by the Ardougne Cloak 2 or 3, and of course the Ardougne teleport (requiring 51 Magic and completion of the Plague City quest). Speak to Kragen at the allotments, selecting the (Charm) option until he requests that you grow some cabbages. Then, agree to his offer without using the (Charm) option.

Rake an allotment, and pour in the bucket of compost or super compost. Plant some cabbages in the allotment, water the plants every turn, and cure disease if necessary. Note that if you have fully grown rosemary planted in the nearby flower patch, you do not need to worry about the cabbages becoming diseased, and can continue to the next part of the quest. If you did not plant rosemary, you have to wait for them to grow to ensure they do not die.

Elstan, south-east of Falador
Items needed for this section: Ring of charos (a) equipped, marigold seed, a bucket of compost/super compost and a watering can.

NOTE: The easiest way to reach Elstan is to teleport via Explorer's Ring and then walk directly north of the cabbage patch. You can use your Clan vexillum, if you're in a clan, to teleport to the Clan Camp and walk East to the allotment by Elstan.

Go to the allotments between Falador and Draynor Village, and talk to the gardener Elstan. Ask about delphinium seeds. Select the (Charm) option, and he will ask you to plant some marigold. Charm him until the actual request, when you should not use the charm option.

Plant a marigold seed in the nearby flower patch, and grow it. In exchange for the marigold, Elstan will hand over the delphinium seeds. If you give him an ordinary marigold you got before the quest, he will tell you he hasn't seen you grow it and you won't get the seeds. Also, if you grow the marigold before talking to him, he will say that he did not see it growing and you must do it again.

Now is a good time to head back to Lyra's onions if you used marigolds and left them. If you spent more than forty minutes since Kragen and used rosemary, you can go back to him as well. If not, you can do so after attending to Bernald.

NOTE: You will get a message in the chat box saying "Perhaps I should check the onions that I planted for Lyra..."

Bernald, Taverley
Items needed for this section: Ring of charos (a) equipped, Rune essence (pure essence will also work) and two plant cure potions.

Bernald is best reached by the Taverley Home teleport, because it sets you right next to him, however, if you have not activated the Taverley Lodestone, the next best thing is the Burthorpe Home Teleport and heading south.

Travel to the The Pick and Lute Inn in Taverley, which is just east of the lodestone and he is just south of the entrance. Talk to Bernald, selecting the (Charm) options when necessary. He will tell you that his vines are dying and needs a cure. Use one plant cure on the diseased grapevines, but it won't work. Talk to Bernald again, and he will instruct you to find Alain at Taverley.

Go to the tree patch at Taverley (just south of the gate dividing the P2P-only area and the F2P area), and speak to Alain about strong plant cures. Do not select the charm option with him. He will provide a method of adding some rune essence dust into the plant cure to enhance its power.

Use the rune essence or pure essence on an anvil (there is one to the north) to crush the stone into rune shards, and then use the pestle and mortar on the shards to make some rune dust. Use the dust with the remaining plant cure potion to get the strong plant cure (This step can only work after talking to Alain!). Bring the potion back to Taverley, and use it on the diseased vines. The grapevines will now be cured.

Talk to Bernald, and he will give you some Burthorpe vine seeds.

Gardening
Once you have the seeds, you must plant them in the Queen's garden. As previously noted, the patches must be raked and a seed dibber used to plant the seeds, as well as a spade to transfer the white tree. Toolbelt works for all of these. Water is not needed for any of the plants, compost needed only to fill the stone pots for the two orchid seeds. The plants will not take long to grow, try to plant the white tree first, so once finished planting you may tend to the statues.

Getting the statues
After planting everything, talk to Queen Ellamaria and ask about getting the statues. She provides a trolley with which to push or pull the statues.

When there is a statue on the trolley, you can choose to "push" or "pull" the trolley, causing the trolley to move 1 square away or toward you, respectively. The option "big push" allows the trolley to move several squares away from you.

Teleports are recommended to get to the statues' original places.

Statue of a former King, Lumbridge
Walk or teleport to Lumbridge, and then walk out of the castle gate. Examine both statues just outside the gate, and use the trolley on the one described as the statue of a "former King" (the southern statue).

Push or pull the trolley across the bridge directly outside and to the east of the castle. Note that for both statues, there is a right click option 'big push' that may significantly speed up the trip. Once the trolley is on the other side of the River Lum the scene will immediately change to the north backyard of Varrock palace. Push or pull the trolley to the east, and then south, into the Queen's garden. Don't take your time with this: If you chat along the way and otherwise take too long, you will receive a message saying, "The guards have recaptured the statue of a king, and placed it back in Lumbridge."

Move the statue to the garden where you planted the seeds, move the statue in front of the statue slot then place it. When the trolley is pushed beside the spot, use the "place" option to place the statue, and the trolley will return to your inventory automatically.

The statues will occasionally get stuck in the drain on the castle wall near the trellis.

Statue of Saradomin
Walk or teleport to Falador. The statue is in the main square just south of the north gate. The Falador Teleport brings you right next to the statue. Use the trolley on the statue, and a quirky cutscene will play, depicting the guards being killed by a player spoof. You can now leave with the statue without being harassed by guards. (Note that there are still guards standing at the Falador gate.)

After the cutscene, move the trolley out of Falador as soon as possible. If you take too long, the guards will discover the statue has been stolen (you will get a message saying, "The guards have recaptured the statue of Saradomin, and placed it back in Falador") and you will have to start over. The guards can retrieve the statue even in Varrock.

Once the trolley is out of Falador the scene will immediately change to the north backyard of Varrock palace. Again, push or pull the trolley to the east, and then south, into the Queen's garden. Place the statue in the central empty plinth.

Conclusion
After all patches are fully grown and the statues are in place, talk to the Queen and she will ask you to get King Roald. Go to the King and talk to him, selecting the [Charm] options whenever possible. Have him follow you into the garden. After a cut scene, the quest will end and the Queen will reward you.
