A '''fighter torso''' or ''penance torso'' (as listed on the rewards screen of the Barbarian Assault minigame), is a piece of [[members-only]] [[armour]]. To wear one, a player must have at least 40 [[Defence]]. A fighter torso can be obtained by exchanging 375 honour points in all four roles and after killing the [[Penance Queen]] at least once in the [[Barbarian Assault]] [[minigame]]. <br />

A fighter torso was the only piece of chest armour that provided a [[strength]] bonus until the release of the [[bandos chestplate]], [[vesta's chainbody]], [[statius's platebody]], and [[torva platebody]]. <br />

The armour is a popular replacement for players who cannot afford either a [[bandos chestplate]] or full [[bandos armour]], or do not feel that the chestplate is worth the extra money for the same strength. As of the 19 January 2010 Barbarian Assault Update, a fighter torso can now be picked up from a player's [[gravestone]] if they should die with it. In addition, you can bank multiple fighter torsos, as well as other penance items you win.<br />

It can be used for a ranged [[hybrid]], as it does not have any ranging negatives, although actual [[ranged]] armour provides both a mediocre defence bonus and a decent ranged attack bonus, while most melee armour only provides a lot of [[defence]]. This is why this torso is not used frequently by [[rangers]].<br />

The fighter torso does not interfere with the effects of Ava's [[Ava's attractor|attractor]], [[Ava's accumulator|accumulator]], or [[Ava's alerter|alerter]].<br />

On the [[19 January]] [[2010]] [[Barbarian Assault]] update, the fighter torso's bonuses were made equal to the [[rune platebody]]. Within 2 hours after the update, another update was issued and the torso was restored to its previous bonuses, along with the +4 strength.<br />

When dropped in a pvp situation the torso becomes 30,000 [[coins]].<br />
