The '''Empty crate''' is a [[quest item]] given to the player by [[Lead archaeologist Abigail]] during the [[Dealing with Scabaras]] [[quest]]. The player is asked to put a number of distressed bronze armour and weapon items into the crate and give it to [[Simon Templeton]] near the [[agility pyramid]] in the [[Kharidian Desert]].

Possible items that must be put in the crate include [[oxidised medium helm]]s, [[oxidised full helm]]s, [[oxidised chainbody|oxidised chainbodies]], [[oxidised square shield]]s, [[oxidised kiteshield]]s, [[oxidised platelegs]], [[oxidised plateskirt]]s, [[oxidised dagger]]s, [[oxidised sword]]s, [[oxidised scimitar]]s and [[oxidised longsword]]s, all of which can be created by using a bucket of [[Ugthanki dung]] on the equivalent bronze item whilst you are standing in the [[desert]].

Once all of the distressed items have been put into the crate it turns into a [[smelly crate]].
