'''Dagannoth Prime''' is one of the [[Dagannoth#Dagannoth Kings|Dagannoth Kings]] found on [[Waterbirth Island]]. Dagannoth Prime is the Dagannoth King that uses [[Magic]].

[[Dagannoth]]s are weak against the [[Balmung]]. However, this is not worth the time and money worth using this to kill him or the other Dagannoth Kings.

==Strategy==

Dagannoth Prime is easily the most dangerous of all the Dagannoth Kings, especially to players who use [[Melee]] combat style. Its [[Magic]] attacks can hit up to 610. It is essential that players turn [[Protect from Magic]] [[prayer]] or [[Deflect Magic]] on if players are killing him.

Prime will never wander to the eastern side of the arena. However, he will occupy the western and some of the central area.

Prime has an unusually moderate range and melee defence despite being a mage. Using Leech curses will reduce his defence, or if that is unavailable, [[Diamond bolts (e)]] may be used.

==Dangers==
* If players get too close to [[Dagannoth Rex]] when they are fighting Dagannoth Prime, [[Dagannoth Rex]] switches his aggressiveness towards them. This can be avoided by staying on the western part of the arena, as Rex will rarely (if never) go there.
* [[Dagannoth Supreme]] respawns while fighting Prime. This can be avoided by staying in the northern part of the arena. Players will want to use the "Long-Range" style with their ranged combat unless the player is sure that they will not get the attention of Supreme.
* Prime, along with his fellow king Supreme, have a very long ranged attack. This means, if he targets you, you'll either have to leave the arena or kill him.

==Trivia==
*When you kill Dagannoth Prime, in the [[Adventurer's Log]] it says "I killed Dagannoth Prime, one of the legendary Dagannoth Kings, rumored to fly on the Northern Winds." However, for Rex and Supreme, it simply says "I killed Dagannoth Rex" / "I killed Dagannoth Supreme" without a description.
*Dagannoth Prime is the only level 300 unit to be able to deal over 600 damage. Using ganodermic armor, however will reduce his attack to around 390 at his highest.
*'Prime' means 'first' in Latin, but the examine option of Dagannoth Rex, 'Firstborn of the legendary Dagannoth Kings', makes the name contradictory.
*Despite being a mage, which is normally weak to rangers, Prime has a much more stronger defense against ranged attacks, and even stronger defense against melee attacks.
*Dagannoth Prime has an eye in the middle of his chest. This suggests that it is possible that the "eye" is controlling him, similar to that of the Sea Slugs and [[Dreadnaut]].
