The '''Catalytic staff''', the Tier 1 staff in dungeoneering (also the highest requirement staff in F2P), can be found in the dungeons under [[Daemonheim]]. It requires 40 [[Magic]] to wield, and increases the maximum damage of your destructive spells by 15%. [[Free]] players can only obtain this by looting the defeated boss, [[unholy cursebearer]] located on floors 15-17 and 30-35 of [[Daemonheim]], by receiving it as a starting item when entering a floor, or by imbuing a [[spinebeam staff]] or better on a [[Runecrafting altar (Dungeoneering)|runecrafting altar]]. To bind the staff players only need to have 40+ magic (same as the requirement of staff) and repeatedly enter and leave dungeons, at complexity 1 or 2 to flush the weapon out of starting kit in smuggler room.

To obtain the damage of the staff, multiply the original damage of the combat spell by 1.15 and round it down. The maximum amount of free-to-play magic damage in Daemonheim is 184, in which this staff is wielded and fire blast is cast.

Unlike what the name might suggest, the Catalytic staff is not like [[Catalytic rune|Catalytic Runes]] and will NOT replace non-elemental runes (Mind, Body, Chaos, Death, Blood, Nature, Cosmic, Law, Soul and Astral) when casting magic. The Catalytic Staff only increases the damage of destructive spells.
