'''Blood runes''' are members-only runes used in the [[Magic]] skill for [[wave spells|Wave]] and [[Surge spells]] in the normal spellbook, they are used in many spells in [[Ancient Magicks]], plus several spells in [[Lunar Spells]].

Blood runes are dropped by a large range of monsters, such as [[Fire giants]], [[Guard]]s, [[Ankou]]s, [[Bloodveld]], and [[Shadow warrior]]s. They may be [[Thieving|stolen]] from the chest in the [[Chaos Druid Tower]] north-west of [[Ardougne]], purchased from many magic store owners, such as the [[Mage of Zamorak]], or received as a fairly common loot from the [[Barrows]] chest. There is also a respawn point near the [[Demonic Ruins]] in the [[Wilderness]].

Before [[22 April]] [[2008]], it was not possible to craft blood runes by any means other than the [[Ourania altar]]. Blood runes can now be crafted (level 77 [[Runecrafting]]) at the [[Blood Altar]] using [[pure essence]] after completing the [[Legacy of Seergaze]] quest, and give 10.5 experience each (If you are wearing the complete [[Master runecrafting robes]], then this is 10.78 experience each).

The value of 1 Blood rune in [[Mobilising Armies]] is 111 Investment Credits.

* Long before [[22 April]] [[2008]], players who achieved 77 Runecrafting would get a message that they can now craft blood runes even though [[Legacy of Seergaze]] hadn't been released at the time.
* The most blood runes required for a spell are 4, for the [[Blood Barrage]] spell.
* The blood rune is identical in design to the [[water rune]], the exception is the colour of the rune symbol.
* There used to be a glitch that allowed people to obtain free blood runes from [[Barbarian Assault]]. This has been patched.
* On Wednesday 9 June 2010, as with most other runes, the Blood rune was given a graphical update to make it look more three dimensional.
* There is a respawn of a single blood rune just a few squares east of the [[Demonic ruins]] in the wilderness. It takes about a minute to respawn in a full world. Some [[greater demons]] are nearby, and sometimes [[PKers]] will drop by, so it is not recommended to gather blood runes here.
