The '''Black mushroom''' is a [[quest]] item that can be found growing in shaded areas around [[Uzer]] and in the [[Goblin cave]]. Black mushrooms prefer to grow in shady areas, although they are also known to grow in the [[Kharidian Desert]], an area lacking of shade.

The mushroom can be used with a [[pestle and mortar]] while having an empty [[vial]] in your inventory. This will result in making [[Black mushroom ink]], which can be used to dye several items black; such as [[desert robes]], [[Silverlight]], black balloons (using dye on [[origami balloon]]s), [[Goblin mail]], and [[wizard robe top|wizard robe]]s.

It can be eaten, but it will not heal any [[life points]]. The message "Eugh! It tastes horrible, and stains your fingers black." appears when eaten. This does not bear any negative side effects. The reason for this may be to give players a hint at the mushroom's intended purpose as a dye.
