The '''Barrelchest anchor''' is obtained by killing the level 210 [[Barrelchest]] monster in [[The Great Brain Robbery]] quest. 60 [[Attack]] and 40 [[Strength]] are required in order to wield it. It is currently the 12th strongest [[melee]] [[weapons|weapon]] in the game behind [[Dharok's greataxe]], [[Statius's warhammer]], [[Vesta's longsword]], [[Vesta's spear]], the [[Godsword]]s, the [[Auspicious Katana]] and the [[Chaotic equipment|chaotic weapons]]. It also has the highest crush attack bonus of any non-degradable weapon, and the fifth highest crush attack bonus overall (behind [[Dharok's greataxe]], [[Statius's warhammer]], [[Vesta's spear]], and the [[Chaotic maul]]).

As with all maul type weapons, with the exception the [[meat tenderiser]], the barrelchest anchor is a two handed weapon. The Barrelchest anchor has a [[special attacks|special attack]], "Sunder", which uses 50% of the Special attack bar, deals 10% more damage, doubles the chance of hitting and will lower the opponent's [[Attack]], [[Defence]], [[Ranged]] or [[Magic]] level by 1% of the damage inflicted.

Shadowing its brute strength is its weight and low speed which does not make it an ideal training weapon, though its high crush attack bonus makes it a feasible option for killing [[Waterfiend]]s, and the special attack makes it somewhat useful for PvP. When first acquired, it is broken, and therefore must be taken to [[Smith]] the pirate, in [[Mos Le'Harmless]], to be repaired for 230,000 [[coins]] in order to wield the weapon. The [[Maximum melee hit|max hit]] is currently 620 with degradable PvP armour and a [[Castle wars brace]] in [[Castle Wars]] (although it might be higher). However, despite all this, the anchor is not a very popular weapon.

All of the anchor's attack styles were originally identical to that of a [[pickaxe]], but has since been changed into mace attack styles. It has the same speed as a [[Battleaxe]].

If lost, it can be re-obtained by talking to the monk, [[Brother Tranquility]], on [[Mos Le'Harmless]] to receive another broken anchor which can once again be fixed by Smith] for 230,000 coins. Originally when the anchor was first released, the [[Strength]] bonus was 80 and the cost to buy a new anchor was 50,000 coins, along with the speed being 5 bars on Jagex's scale. It was then changed to 700,000 coins for a new one with an 87 strength bonus. Later, it was changed again to 230,000 coins for all repairs and stats changed to 92 crush and 100 strength bonus, as well as achieving the current speed.

In the past, if a player were to go to a [[free play|free-to-play]] [[server|world]] while having the Barrelchest Anchor equipped, it would appear as though they were wielding a large [[pickaxe]], but there was a change to the way members would hold their items in free-to-play worlds, making them wield the weapon properly, as is seen in members' worlds.

You can do the [[drop trick]] to get more Barrelchest Anchors from Brother Tranquility, but you can only repair one. You must drop any extra before talking to Smith to keep them, then pick them back up, otherwise he will take them all and only repair the one.

*If you die at the exact same time the [[special attack]] is activated, there is a strong chance of dealing damage on your opponent and even killing them. 
*The Barrelchest anchor has a positive slash bonus and a negative stab bonus, even though it has a stab attack option and no slash option.
*There is a glitch that occurs when you noose something while wielding the Barrelchest anchor, you will hear the sound effect when attacking with the Barrelchest anchor instead of the regular noosing sound effect, however, you will still see the noosing animation.
