A '''Ball of black wool''' is a quest-related item used to complete the [[Sheep Shearer]] mini-quest. It was created to force players to shear and spin the wool instead of buying it from other players or from shops. It is made from [[Black wool]] spun on a [[Spinning wheel]], which in turn is obtained from [[Black sheep]]. Black wool or extra balls of black wool found in a player's inventory when the quest is completed are taken by [[Fred the Farmer]].

After completing the quest, players simply are not permitted to shear [[Fred the Farmer]]'s black sheep, removing even the potential to make more balls of black wool.

==Trivia==

*A ball of black wool, unlike white wool, cannot be used in necklaces or amulets, although it would most likely give the same effect.
*If you use this ball of wool on your kitten, the kitten will not play with it.
*Apart from its quest use, the wool is an extremely useless item as nothing can be done with it apart from it being given to Fred the Farmer.
