New page

Accept Aid is a button within the Options screen that lets other players aid the player especially with Magic spells, and allows certain actions that require the player's consent.

Magic spells
Accept Aid allows Magic spells such as Tele-other, Cure Group (from the Lunar spellbook) and any other group spells to work on the player. If this is turned off, the spells will not work for the particular player who has Accept Aid turned off.

However, with Accept Aid on, players may be distracted by Tele-other attempts during awkward times, such as during a difficult combat. One of the favourite places for this to be used is when Barrow Hunting. High levels will sit in a barrow (often Dharok, who can hit the hardest) and will spend their time high alchemising items, or doing something that they do not need a bank for, and when a player arrives who is attempting to complete a barrow run, will use a Tele-other spell on them whilst they are in combat, allowing the Barrow ghost to attack and cause a high amount of damage.

Therefore, it is safer to leave Accept Aid off unless the player is with trusted friends. Also, Tele-other spells can be used for luring, which is a reportable action.

Barbarian Assault
Barbarian Assault

Accept Aid is also used in the Barbarian Assault activity. While in the waiting room, players may request to recruit another player to join their team. However, only those with Accept Aid will be able to be recruited.
Stealing Creation
Accept Aid is used in accepting items from other team mates in the activity Stealing Creation. If you try giving a team member an item while they have their accept aid off, it will appear with the message, "(player's name) doesn't want to accept your items."

Trivia
* The cross on the accept aid icon in the options menu used to be red. However, this was changed to green on 9 June 2010 in order to avoid potential copyright issues.
*During the 2009 April Fools' event, if a player had accept aid on, another player wielding a cabbage would be able to throw it to that player. If the player had accept aid off, the other player would receive a message stating they had accept aid turned off. The weapon and shield slots of the target player had to be empty.
*Despite popular belief, the gnomeball does not work in the same way.
