Tomes of Ranging are summoned by Lexicus Runewright during the fight with him. They, along with Tomes of Magic and Tomes of Strength, only have 10 life points and if hit they will always die. However, they hit very hard for their level and are able to do so from a long range. Protection prayers only offer partial protection against their attacks.
