One can also use the type parameter to change mentions of player in the template with clan or anything appropriate.

The first parameter is the name of the article onto which the player mention was added, this is not necessary and should not be used for an article made about a player as doing so will create a redlink once the article is deleted. Without this, it will default to an article.
