The Mining instructor on Tutorial Island (named Dezzick) was the fifth non-player character that a beginning player met in RuneScape when the Tutorial Island was in use. He informed players about Mining and Smithing skills.
Dezzick was a miner by trade. He was one of the more friendly Tutorial Island tutors, unlike his neighbour Vannaka. He was skilled at mining and also knew how to smith many different kinds of weapons.
After the update where Tutorial Island was taken over by Learning the Ropes, the Mining instructor is no longer in-game.

- Dezzick appeared to be wielding a Steel pickaxe.
- Before an update, He used to wield a rune pickaxe.
- He was wearing a Strung rabbit foot, leather gloves, and a Grey pirate bandana.
- Before an update to the Tutorial Island, Dezzick was shirtless, muscular, wore a purple bandana and shorts, and had a blond goatee.
