Lord Francis Kurt Handelmort plays a central role in the Tribal Totem quest, although he is never actually seen by players. He is the wealthiest man in Ardougne. He has a gardener and a two-story house which is guarded by level 44 dogs (Aggressive). The staircase is trapped so right click and investigate it before you go up or you end up in the sewers.

- In Runescape Classic, Lord Handelmort's middle name was Brad, but it was changed to Kurt in Runescape 2.
- His name may be a reference to Lord Voldemort, the antagonist in the Harry Potter series.
- His name may be a reference to Kurtz, the antagonist in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, the antagonist interfering with the original jungle inhabitants.
