Ardougne teleport lever
The Ardougne teleport lever is located in the west section of East Ardougne, just north of the gate separating the two cities. It teleports the user to the Deserted Keep in the deep members Wilderness after asking for confirmation (which can be later turned off), yet this was only added in February, 2008 by Jagex, making this lever a well- known trap for players. It is used frequently for deep-wilderness Treasure Trails clues and access to places such as the Mage Arena or the Wilderness Agility Course. It is near many of the destinations for level 3 Treasure Trails and therefore this is one of the most common reasons for using it.
The Ardougne teleport lever is commonly just called the "lever" in-game, as there are very few other levers of any practical importance.
After pulling the lever the player finds themselves on the southern end of a peninsula on which the Deserted Keep stands. The lever can be used to teleport from the Wilderness back to Ardougne, unless the player has had Teleport Block cast on them. A knife or a slash weapon is required to cut the web on the northern part of the peninsula to leave the enclosed area. If you didn't bring one, head back to Ardougne to pick one up. Or you could wait for another player to come by and slash the web for you, but you might be waiting a VERY long time in this remote area.
It is not recommended that you use this teleport unless you have a specific destination in mind, as the area around it is a VERY dangerous place, and is really only of use if you are wanting to go to the Mage Arena or player killing. If you are unlucky enough to encounter an unwanted player killer here, simply use the lever to escape to safety.
There is also a bank reachable from the house to the north-west of the lever, right next to the Mage Arena.
Trivia
- This lever, unlike the Edgeville teleport lever, has a transport symbol on it. But this has been fixed
- Early in Runescape, the warning text that read "Warning pulling this lever will teleport you deep into the wilderness, are you sure you wish to pull it?" was hard to see while a high volume of players were in the area talking and or spamming, unless the player had their chat options set to Game. Higher level players exploited this and began exclaiming that drop parties were being held by themselves soon, gathering a large amount of followers. These followers were then taken to the switch, and some, in their excitement, would click the switch as rapidly as they could, only to find options at the top of their screen stating, "Yes," "No," and "Yes please, don't show this message again." Many players were killed this way by higher levels. Few of the players who were killed complained about their losses, in response, Jagex removed the "No" option and replaced it with a middle option which stated, "Eeep! The wilderness... No, thank you." Making it less difficult for players unfamiliar with the Ardougne teleport lever to quickly understand the destination in which they would be taken. The options have since changed upon the release of RuneScape 2. However, the options remain the same in RuneScape Classic.
- There is currently a glitch that, when teleporting back to Ardougne using the lever, for a brief second, the wilderness level will say 'Level: -25'. This has not been fixed.
